Who is responsible?

SKOGHEIM TECHNOLOGIES, Norwegian organisation number 937 840 977, is the data controller for Pawlilo. Contact hi@pawlilo.app about privacy and your rights.

Information you provide

We process your email address, profile name, username, profile photo and settings, together with animal profiles, family roles, groups, messages, photos, videos, comments and reactions you create. When you use Apple or Google to sign in, we receive the identifier and profile information shared by that service. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

Walks and location

When you start a walk and grant location access, we process location, timestamps, routes and walk statistics. An active walk may record in the background when you have granted permission. Your choices determine who can see walk status, routes and nearby information. You can end a walk and change location access in your phone settings. Avoid sharing places that reveal more than you intend.

Why we use information

We use account and content information to provide the services you request, based on our agreement with you. Necessary security logs, abuse prevention and troubleshooting rely on our legitimate interest in a safe and functioning service. Legally required records are processed to meet legal obligations. Optional marketing and analytics requiring consent must remain off until you consent. You can withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Sharing and providers

Content is shared with your selected audience, such as family, sitters, followers, a pack or the public. A sitter’s access may have an expiry date. Other people may retain copies they have already received. We use providers for hosting, storage, email and push notifications, and Apple and Google for sign-in and store purchases. Payment cards are handled by the store, not Pawlilo. We do not sell your personal information. Transfers outside the EEA must have a valid transfer basis and appropriate safeguards.

Retention and deletion

Account information and content are retained while needed for the features you use. Account deletion removes your account and your posts, comments, messages, walks and media from the service. Media files are removed through separate deletion tasks. Animals with another owner remain with that owner. For animals where you are the last owner, you choose deletion or a memorial profile; your own media is deleted even if the memorial profile stays. Legally required retention and backups are handled separately and must not restore a deleted account to normal service. Contact us for retention information concerning a specific request.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction and a copy of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Find export and deletion under Profile → Settings → Account, or contact hi@pawlilo.app. We may request necessary identity verification. You can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority at datatilsynet.no.

The website

If you allow analytics, we use PostHog in the EU to measure visits, traffic sources, language, viewed sections and link clicks. A random browser identifier is stored locally. We do not send email addresses, invitation codes in URL parameters or app content, and do not use session recordings or advertising pixels. You can decline or withdraw consent through Privacy choices at the bottom of the website. Necessary server logs are processed separately for operation and security.

Technical data and other sources

We process device platform, app version, push address, notification choices, reminder times, sign-in sessions and necessary security information. For purchases, the store provides product, transaction identifier, subscription status and periods. Invitations, memberships, mentions and reports may include information about you provided by other users. Support processes the information you send in your enquiry.

Photos and optional access

Camera, photo library, location and notifications support features you choose. You can decline permission; the relevant feature will be limited while other available features remain usable. A sign-in identity is required to create and protect your account. The app also stores sign-in information, drafts and necessary settings on your device. Change system permissions in your phone settings.

Nearby notifications and memories

Sharing an active walk can produce suggestions about others walking nearby when your mutual sharing choices and relationships allow it. This uses fresh location, not simply being signed in. Temporary presence expires and is cleaned up by the service; saved walk routes are retained separately. Memory films combine selected media and walk statistics. You decide whether to share a film.

Reports and security

When you report content or a person, we process the reporting account, reported content, reason and review status. The report is sent to us for review. Blocking restricts contact and access between accounts. Contact hi@pawlilo.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

Responses to privacy requests

We respond without undue delay and normally within one month. If the law allows additional time, we explain why within the first month. Exercising your rights is normally free. You can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority or the supervisory authority where you live or work.
